Cuyahoga County is one of 72 communities nationwide taking part in The Big Read, an initiative by the National Endowment for the Arts “designed to restore reading to the center of American culture.” The county’s libraries are celebrating this month with activities focusing on Zora Neale Hurston’s classic “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” including readings from the book, screenings of the 2005 TV movie (with native daughter Halle Berry) and other activities. But the don’t miss event is the play “Zora,” an adaptation of the theatrical biography, performed by Kim Brockington. Free performances will be at several locations next week.
